I Attended Ocean Training Plymouth to attain my OOW II/1 Unlimited CoC, completing both my main studies and a number of short courses with OTP.

Although the fees can be higher than some of the larger colleges the emphasis is given to the needs of the individual student and a flexible approach to timetabling (when they're able), resulting in smaller class sizes (6 was my largest class attended with the norm being 2 - 4 students per class) and the opportunity for 1 on 1 tuition when required.

During my time at the training centre I found the services to be excellent with an emphasis on the student and their individual needs as opposed to the needs of the college. Class sizes were normally small and the teaching style relaxed, delivered by experienced, knowledgeable ex ships masters, normally with plenty of opportunity for 1 on 1 tuition (which on occasion I found to be of great help and advantage to myself).

Facilities are good, clean and modern and the classrooms comfortable, fees were arranged and taken promptly with minimal fuss or complication and the Admin staff (particularly Becky) were always happy to help and advise on course requirements, availability and address any problems or difficulties which you may have encountered during your time at the training centre.

If your looking for an approach to gaining certification which is on a more personal level and catered to your own individual needs as opposed to the conveyor belt 'bums on seats' experience you will encounter at the larger colleges Ocean Training Plymouth is the place for you.

Many thanks to all the team for helping me through to gaining my first Certificate of Competency, and look forward to returning in the future.

Ocean Training Plymouth assisted myself with my NVQ4 and am now sailing as a Chief Officer offshore Asia. I would highly recommend people to attend training here, be it long courses or short courses. The vast knowledge of the lecturers, as well as the smaller class sizes resulting in more 1 to 1 teaching is a huge positive and fully intend to return when my next certification is due.

A good team who puts the students first, cannot recommend the center to others enough.

I attended a weeks Oral Prep course starting the 17th of January in preparation for a OOW Yachts <3000grt which was scheduled for the following Monday. The course had been arranged with a months notice but from dealing with Ocean Training.
I have used Ocean Training a great deal in the past, finding them easy to deal with and keen to help out as far as they can.
The course was attended by myself and one other. The instructor covered the whole of the sylabus and made sure every piece was fully understood. Any areas where either he or we felt more work was needed was repeated until he was confident that we understood.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Ocean Training to any colleagues, as indeed I have done in the past.
Many thanks to Beccy and the team
